The Satellite P75-A7100 packs a quad-core Core i7-4700MQ processor, a very strong CPU that will power through both everyday and more demanding tasks with ease. It also features a large 17.3-inch 1920×1080 display, providing a great picture and making this a great choice for viewing multimedia. Audio is covered by premium Harman/Kardon speakers, so you’ll get a sound as crisp as your visuals here too.
There’s a solid 8GB RAM installed as well as a 750GB hard drive, giving you plenty of memory for storing your HD media and switching between programs. While a Blu-ray player would have made this an even better multimedia laptop, that would have been a bit much at this price point, and you’ll have to settle for a run-of-the-mill DVD-RW.
Wireless connectivity will be great thanks to the modern dual-band Intel Wireless-N 7260 AC and Bluetooth 4.0. As far as physical connections go, there’s 4 USB 3.0 ports, HDMI with 4K output, a multi-card reader, and ethernet. Put it all together and you’ve got plenty of options for hooking up your peripherals or connecting your network.
As a 17-inch notebook it’s not particularly light (6.6 lbs), but with a battery life of 3.88 hours, it’ll be easy enough to move around the house without leaving it plugged in most of the time. There’s also a backlit keyboard, a nice perk that makes it easier to use in darker settings.
